CCAA Award badges are available for any child or young person who lives with a paediatric rheumatogical condition like JIA and/or the associated eye condition – uveitis. Siblings of the JIA child/young person are also eligible for any of the badges as appropriate and we have commissioned one of the badges especially with them in mind.
We also have a range of badges for Health Professionals, you can nominate anyone who looks after your child or young person as part of their JIA care.
It is very simple! A child or young person is nominated for an award by someone who knows them well via our online form. They will receive the badge and a certificate in the post. The first time they are nominated for a badge they will also receive a lanyard on which there are special places to put badges. They can collect the badges over the course of their journey with JIA. Siblings are also eligible for any of the badges as appropriate and there is a one badge that has been specially designed for them too.
Anyone who knows the child or young person and how they deal with their condition eg parent or carer, sibling, relative, teacher, sports coach, family friend, healthcare professional etc.
You need to click here to go to our online nomination form which should be quick and easy to complete. Please ensure you have read our nomination guidelines at the top of the form first. Thank you.
Please be patient as we are a volunteer led charity and so things often take longer than we would ideally like. We hope that your badge and certificate will be with you within 6-8 weeks but hopefully much quicker.
Yes absolutely! If you wish to nominate a child or young person for another award in the same category then please feel free to do so. We just ask that you leave a suitable amount of time between the nominations so that the child or young person recognises that the awards are special.
Any badges received can be worn proudly! They are collectibles and should be shown off at every opportunity. You can show them to your healthcare team (maybe wear your lanyard to appointments), your class at school, your friends and family, or you can keep them at home where you keep your very special most treasured objects. They can be placed in the circles on the lanyard for safe keeping.
If you click here we have given some examples of the sort of things we like to award badges for. But these examples are not exhaustive. If you are caring for or living with a child or young person who has JIA or any other rheumatogical condition and you think they deserve an award, then we would like to help with that – you know your child best and what they go through so we want to support you in supporting them.
We would refer you to our CCAA Award Badge Nomination Guidelines. Simply put, there are no limits but we are only a small team and so we ask that you only nominate your child or young person for one at a time.
The badges and lanyards, as well as the postage, are FREE to you and are fully funded by CCAA because we recognise how important they could be to helping children and young people build a positive life with JIA. If, however, you would like to make a donation or fundraise for us to help contribute towards the cost of this project then we would be delighted! We will need ongoing funding to sustain this initiative going forward. CCAA have an annual fundraiser – our Percy Picnic and there are more details of this, as well as other ideas and suggestions for your fundraising here. Thank you!

Once your child has filled up all the spaces on their lanyards please email awards@ccaa.org.uk and we will be delighted to send them a medal for the bottom of their lanyard.
Yes absolutely! We will happily send a new lanyard to continue collecting or they can simply add more to their existing lanyard if they prefer to keep them all together.
